SMPS Chicago Feb. 10, 2016 Luncheon – Talking Trends: Adaptive Resue and The Chicago Marketplace

Chicago—SMPS Chicago is presenting a six-person panel on “Talking Trends: Adaptive Reuse and the Chicago Marketplace” which focuses on repurposing, reusing and revitalizing office space, residential, retail, restaurant, and entertainment space while maintaining your signature character and presence on Wed., Feb. 10, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Petterinos in Chicago. Owners and developers and other building professionals will find this program interesting as it includes best practices, future trends, and lessons learned to optimize your efforts.

Moderator: Amy Lamb Woods, PE | Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Senior Staff II – Building Technology

Amy Woods is a professional engineer with more than 17 years of experience in the field of historic preservation and forensic engineering of materials and construction systems. She has been involved with many types of projects such as façade investigations, repair and rehabilitation projects, and materials analysis. Amy is on the Board for the Association for Preservation Technology International, a Director for the International Concrete Repair Institute Chicago chapter, on the Easement Committee for Landmarks Illinois, and is an instructor in the Historic Preservation Building Diagnostics class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Alan Bombick, AIA, LEED AP | Legat Architects Principal and Director of Commercial/Mixed Use Practice

Alan F. Bombick AIA, LEED AP is a Principal with Legat Architects and is responsible for the development, design and management of projects in Legat Architects’ corporate, mixed-use and higher education practices. Alan has over 30 years of experience which includes a wide range of award-winning domestic and international projects. He has led architectural and planning design teams in numerous projects at all scales, and brings this unique perspective to the firm’s work.

Steve Nargang, PE | Gage Consulting Engineers Vice President and Director of Development

Steve Nargang has more than 20 years of design, engineering, project management, technical sales, and business development experience, with a background in mechanical engineering and project development across a range of industries and applications. He leads the efforts towards overall growth of the firm through expansion of technical services, as well as campaigns targeting larger and more diverse engineering projects. Steve is responsible for implementing the firm’s strategic and marketing plans, leading business development towards further growth of long-term client and partner relationships.

Robert Svoboda, Jr., CPE | CCS Technical Services Director

Robert Svoboda, CCS’ National Director of Technical Services, brings a broad knowledge of estimating practices and extensive understanding of market pricing and pricing sources, as well as a strong knowledge base for handling complex projects of all types and sizes nationwide. A Certified Professional Estimator, Robert is an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) and is currently the 1st Vice President of the Chicago Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE). He has been involved in over 500 projects of all types and sizes nationwide since joining CCS.

Lou Reiner | W.E. O’Neil Construction Senior Vice President of Operations, Project Executive

Lou Reiner serves as Senior Vice President of Operations for W.E. O’Neil Construction and has 38 years of construction industry experience in the Chicagoland area.   His expertise is in managing customer expectations and providing leadership and accountability for large project teams over long durations.

Bill Dvorak | MedProperties Group Director, Development Services

Bill Dvorak leads development activities at MedProperties Group.  His development experience spans a variety of asset classes including medical office, retail, residential, and industrial, with a specialty in mixed-use development.  Prior to joining MedProperties Group, Mr. Dvorak was a Senior Program Manager for Structured Development, LLC, where he was responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, and management of the firm’s development projects, managing nearly $600 million in ground up development and adaptive re-use projects in the Chicago area.
